What does the future hold for our two towns? local businesses are passionate about preserving and making the area prosperous and an even better place in which to live. To begin this process the business club held a workshop on Thursday 24 July. This session was to brainstorm "weathering a recession" and beyond that securing the future of our community.

The membership came up with 16 basic ideas and we invite you to help us decide which ideas to focus on. You can do this by rating your top 5 from 1-5 (5 being your favorite and 1 being your least favorite). We will revisit future planning at the 25 September meeting. At this meeting we will adopt the top 3 ideas for further investigation prior to implementation.

To ensure one vote per person we require an e-mail address. However, this data will not be used in any way other for audit purposes.

Using local skills to maintain our local heritage assets and local attractions of the area in terms of up keep and maintenance to buildings and areas of natural interest or beauty to attract more tourism.
Support for a formal referral scheme between businesses to promote more use of local companies thus reducing carbon emissions by bringing goods and services from outside the area and building the local economy to secure future jobs.
Promoting the Community Centre and other meeting places to bring more people into the area. For example Bridge club competitions, battle of the bands etc.
Encourage and promote specialist / exclusive shops
Promote the towns as one entity using local radio and TV by pooling local business resources
Design and produce tourist information
Shop local scheme, expanding farmers and local produce markets promoting saving fuel costs and reducing emissions
Themed packages tailored for specific audiences – e.g Hen & stag parties, empty nesters, midweek 4 day breaks and targeting specific groups and businesses
National awareness campaign for promoting the Cotswold Lakes and specifically Fairford, Lechlade and surrounding villages
Create a unique branding for the two towns
Business and tourist information centre
Historic walks around the towns
Promote weekend breaks
Sponsorship of community transport link between two towns
Attract different non representative groups to the Club
Set up a company Fairford & Lechlade Ltd (a company limited by guarantee) a charity with trustees running the company. To promote the area as an affluent place to live, work & play and become a strong lobby group and sponsors for affordable homes and better transport
